From its inception, PFTC focused on two key areas: rigorously describing effectively its trading algorithms and developing technological platforms in which to run it.

PFTC's software allows the implementation of real-time cross-correlated risk reducing strategies to be applied to its portfolio as a whole, in a coordinated fashion that could not be duplicated by individual traders acting discretionarily.

The development of the software includes everything from implementing interfaces to various exchanges, data feeds, information storage and management software, and algorithmic trading agents to designing trader front-ends and system management tools.
